LIFE STORY BOOKS • METRO VANCOUVER

Turn your parents' memories into a book

Your parents simply tell their stories out loud, in their own words. Your family records short answers to ready weekly questions — and we turn their voice into a printed hardcover book with a private audio edition, so children and grandchildren keep the real voice forever.

How it works

The senior does nothing technical: no app, no password, no typing. The family does the recording; we do everything else.

1

Ready questions, weekly

Each week we send one or two simple, memory-sparking questions: childhood, hometown, first job, family, the journey here.

2

Your family records

Sit with your parent, read the question, and record on any phone. Each answer takes just 5 to 15 minutes.

3

We build the book

The recordings are transcribed and polished in the storyteller's own voice, family photos are placed, and the book is designed. You see and approve the complete book before anything is printed.

4

Book + voice, delivered

A printed hardcover book plus a private family audio edition. A listening code beside every chapter plays the storyteller's actual voice on any phone.

Stories can be told in any language. Every book includes an English edition for the whole family; a second-language edition in the storyteller's own language is available in the Premium package.

Sample book — Chapter One: “The Orange Tree House”

This sample was created with a fictional storyteller, so you can see exactly what your family will receive. In a real book, the voice beside every chapter is your own parent's.

“My name is Karim Ahmadi. I was born in 1948 in Shiraz, in a house whose smell I can still find whenever I close my eyes: orange blossom, fresh bread, and the earth my mother watered every morning so the dust would settle… My father was a baker. Once, when I was seven, he let me take a loaf out of the oven myself for the first time. The bread came out half-burnt, but my father folded it, put it in the cloth, and said: This is Karim's bread. Today, we eat Karim's bread for lunch.”

Consent & privacy — in writing, from day one

  • The storyteller owns their story. Even though an adult child pays, nothing is printed, removed or shared without the storyteller's written consent.
  • Before any recording, a short, plain agreement sets out who can access the audio and text, which topics are off-limits, and how long files are kept.
  • Raw recordings are never made public. The book is printed only for the family and is never offered for public sale.
  • The storyteller may skip any question, delete any part, or stop at any time.
  • The book is the storyteller's own account, in their own voice — exactly as they told it.
